Gaming Box BONUS

You already love your Gaming Box from Buy Stuff Arcades. But did you know there are secrets features under the hook so you can do even more?

More FREE games. Watch TV and movies. Stream Spotify and other music players. Run utilities like Gamepad-tester without needing a PC.

Watch this video to learn how!

We do recommend taping the SD Card extension cable to the Gaming Box like we show in the video. Leave a bit of slack for the connector. The reason is that the connector will pull out of the gaming box with enough force, so keep an eye on keeping that secure.

For best results, you will want a keyboard and mouse connected to more easily navigate the Android OS. The easiest solution is probably a wireless mini keyboard like we have available as an option.

Ridge Racer is the only Arcade currently with the audio jack on the control deck that can be swapped with this mod. However, the principle is the same for both OutRun and Star Wars - you would just need to come up with a place to mount the SD Card extender in the back or something similar.

Be sure to connect to your local WIFI network in the Android settings. If you have a 2nd player kit from us for the Gaming Box, do not connect to that router, but instead the router you use in your home for internet access.

Also, please note: Our newest encoder board firmware is needed for some of the newest features like deadzone adjustment. For more info on upgrading your encoder board or your encoder board firmware, please visit: www.buystuffarcades.com/products/rr-outrun-encoder-board-swap

LINKS:

Visit this page (gb-bonus.buystuffarcades.com) using Chrome on the Android Box and click the links to open the apps up in the Google Playstore.

Utilities:

https://gamepad-tester.com: - Test your controls and verify all your connections - runs a bit laggy in Chrome and doesn't support rumble for testing.

Gamepad tester app: Good app - includes deadzone testing and axis tests. Doesn't support rumble testing.

Navigation Bar: Handy to install for swapping between apps and closing them

Games:

These games have all been tested to work with our encoder board and perform well on our Gaming Box. As a general rule, it will often be best to lower the graphics settings to maximize the frame rate. Some games have the ability to customize controls and some do not. Remember, you will need to be in Right Trigger mode to use these games - NOT Right Stick mode like on our Gaming Box. (Hold START and A when booting to switch modes.)

Asphalt 8 Airborne: Works well with default controls. Bring Graphics quality down and Deadzone a few notches up.

Beach Buggy Racing: Click OK to use Arduino so that the wheel will be available to the game.

Beach Buggy Racing 2: Defaults should be good.

CarX Highway Racing: Lower graphics and customize controls.

Crazy Taxi: B button is shift to Drive but also pauses the game.

Demolition Derby 3:  Lower graphics - default controls should be good.

Rally Fury: Defaults should be good.

Real Racing 3: Plays well.

Starlite on Wheels: Keyboard required and Deadzone adjustment helpful.

Supertux Racing: Lower graphics and customize controls.

Xbox Game Pass: May work for streaming from Xbox streaming services.

Apps/Games: non-Free

Riptide Renegade: $2.99 cost. Plays well. Deadzone a couple notches up.

Movies and Music:

Neflix, YouTube and Prime are already installed. Additional apps can be installed such as:

Disney Plus

ESPN

Spotify

This by no means an exhaustive list. There may be many more games that will function well with our encoder board so feel free to test them out! If you let us know what you find, we'll get their links added.

TROUBLESHOOTING

My Gaming Box only boots into Android and won't go back to the Gaming Box:

The first thing to check is that the extension is properly seated in the SD Card slot of the Gaming Box. Spring it in and out and you will be able to tell when it's properly inserted. Make sure the SD card is inserted correctly on the other end of the extension and try again.

If it is still not working, then find a toothpick, paperclip or something long and skinny, and find the audio port at the back of the gaming box. Inside the audio port, at the very bottom, is a little button. You will be able to feel it if you fish around a bit. It can be tricky to find, but you will feel it when you press it successfully. You will need to hold that button down for about 5 seconds while turning on the power. It should be a one time thing.

And if it's still not working, insert the SD card back in directly to the Gaming Box to test if the extension is causing the issue and contact us for support at info@buystuffstore.ca

Install Tips:

We do recommend taping the SD Card extension cable to the Gaming Box like we show in the video. Leave a bit of slack for the connector. The reason is that the connector will pull out of the gaming box with enough force, so keep an eye on keeping that secure.

Goggle Play Store keeps crashing when trying to search:

If you are experiencing that issue, click on one of the Google Play store links above (like this one) and click the search icon in the upper right. Then it should allow you to search without crashing.
