Here is a quick video showing the conversion between the Pandora Box and our PC Build:
IMPORTANT INFO:
- There are 3 modes on our Encoder Boards: Keyboard, 2 Player Controller, and 1 Player Controller.
- The Keyboard mode is required for the Pandora Box. It will also work with many games on our PC Lightgun build.
- The 2 Player Controller mode is best for using our Lightgun PC. The 1 Player Mode is only needed for other Batocera systems that aren't compatible with 2 Players.
- To Switch Modes, you simply unplug the encoder USB, hold down START and A buttons, and plug the USB back in. Cycle the USB one more time without holding down the buttons, and you should be in the next mode. Repeating the process again will switch to the next mode and then back to the first.
- Testing the controls is best done by plugging the Encoder Board USB into a laptop. Then go to www.gamepad-tester.com to test the buttons. If no controllers come up, you might still be in Keyboard mode. (Test here: www.keyboardtester.com)
TIPS and other Info:
EXITING GAMES - START and COIN buttons will exit most games on the controller. In some cases/games, holding them down for 3 seconds will be required. MAME Stick games can also be exited by holding down START for 2 seconds. Exiting from the guns is also possible for most games, but the buttons vary from one gun to the other:
- Retro Shooter - Red/Blue: Front 2 buttons (one each side) and Trigger for 3 seconds.
- Retro Shooter - Reaper: Hold Front button, Trigger and the stock Rumble button for 3 seconds.
- Retro Shooter - MX24: Hold Front reload button, Front Side button and Trigger for 3 seconds. Alternatively for some games, the two side buttons and Trigger.
- Sinden: Front 2 Left Side buttons and Trigger for 3 seconds.
Games will exit more dependably when the control deck is in Controller Mode instead of Keyboard mode (See Important Info above for details.) However, if you are switching between the Pandora Box and our PC, you will want to stay in Keyboard mode. In that case, Exiting with the gun will be a better option for some games but we will look to improve that in future updates. ALL Games should exit from ALT - F4 with a connected Keyboard as a last resort.
CALIBRATION - Initiating Calibration varies from gun to gun:
- Retro Shooter - Red/Blue: Push in the dpad button for 3 seconds and then follow the screen prompts.
- Retro Shooter - Reaper: Long press non-Rumble stock button to start calibration and then follow the screen prompts.
- Retro Shooter - MX24: Long press Thumb switch DOWN.
- Sinden: Long press D-Pad Left on gun and then shoot center target.
CHANGING AUDIO OUTPUT - If you are hearing sound from the PC itself and not your Arcade or TV speakers, there are several options.
- You can simply move the audio cable from the HDMI converter board and plug into the audio port on the PC (Closest audio to the front USB port). That will not work if you are using the Multi-Console switch as the audio has to be HDMI.
- Switch the audio output to HDMI. Watch this video to change the Audio Output settings. If the audio settings do not hold through a reboot for some reason, contact us for another solution.
Using the Retro Shooter USB Hub for Pedals - Foot pedals are not mandatory for any games because the foot pedal is the same as the Reload Button on the gun. If you are using pedals, the the RS USB Hub is required. You will use the plug connector that was powering the old Pandora Box to power the RS USB Hub. The Lightgun and corresponding pedals MUST be plugged into the RS USB Hub and the Hub plugged into the PC. Recoil should still be powered through our Recoil Power kit or your screen will flicker.
